Recent Initiatives in ICT Development in Bangladesh

The presentation will start with a review of the current scenarion of ICT in
Bangladesh, focussing on infrastructure and human resources. Some recent
initiatives relating to ICT policy issues, regulatory framework and
infrastructure development will be highlighted. Efforts to introduce
e-Governance and e-Commerce and the problems being faced will be discussed.
The rapid growth in human resources related to ICT through both private and
public sector initiatives will be presented. Finally a few examples of use
of ICT in remote rural areas for providing access to Internet will be
discussed.
